Sacred Heart College Geelong continues to move from a traditional educational model to a vibrant ‘learning village’. This evolution is guided by a comprehensive master plan that reimagines the physical campus.

The plan divides the College into nine distinct precincts, each designed to foster a dynamic and interconnected learning environment. This significant transformation, grounded by Catholic education in the Mercy tradition, reflects the College’s commitment to providing a progressive education that addresses the evolving needs of students, whilst staying true to the vision of its founding Sisters.

Building on the success of the Innovation Precinct, the College is now excited to introduce the Sport and Wellness Precinct. Located on the northwest side of the campus, this multi-faceted space will promote holistic wellbeing by integrating physical, psychological, cognitive, social and emotional health

Balanced Minds. Boundless Potential.

Our Vision

The Sports and Wellness Precinct will foster healthy habits, strengthen community connections and provide dedicated spaces for wellbeing.

It will offer integrated mental health resources to support emotional resilience, reduce stigma and build skills for managing mental health now and in the future.

In addition, it will enhance learning and community engagement by allowing the community to gather through inclusive spaces for sports, recreation and events.

The Sports and Wellness Precinct will empower students to thrive both academically and personally, leaving a lasting legacy of balanced minds and boundless potential for generations to come.

Wellness for Learning

As a proud member of the Positive Education Schools Association (PESA), Sacred Heart College is committed to prioritising evidence-based wellbeing education. The Sports and Wellness Precinct marks a significant step forward in bringing together physical and mental wellbeing. This dedicated space is designed to foster the holistic wellbeing of our students.

Whole Child Education

A whole child education prioritises the full scope of a child’s developmental needs to ensure that every child reaches their full potential. The ‘whole child’ approach is an educational philosophy that considers the child’s overall wellbeing, including their social, emotional and physical development. A healthy mind and body is proven to have a positive impact on academic learning and creates healthy habits for life.

Physical Wellbeing

In a climate where alarmingly only 5.6% of young people, according to the 2022 Australian Bureau of Statistics, meet recommended physical activity guidelines, the Sports and Wellness Precinct will invite students to engage in physical activity. By igniting a passion for movement and encouraging healthy habits, this hub will empower students to prioritise their physical health, equipping them with the knowledge and independence to embed lifelong healthy habits and proactively manage their own wellbeing.

Mental Wellbeing

We recognise the critical role mental wellbeing plays in overall academic success. Integrating mental health education, resources and services will provide students with greater access to tools, programs, and support networks
aimed at fostering emotional resilience and psychological wellbeing. This holistic approach will help reduce the stigma associated with mental health and offer a proactive environment where students can engage in activities that promote mental clarity, stress relief and emotional balance.

Community and Events

The Precinct will expand Sacred Heart’s capacity to host College-wide events, offering a 2,000 seat venue for celebrations and gatherings. In line with our Mercy values, the Precinct will offer facilities beyond the gates to address the shortage of female-friendly sporting venues and supporting local community organisations. With accessible parking, flexible hospitality areas and universal access, the Precinct will be an inclusive environment for all.
