Congratulations to Sofia Castello 9SILO who in late November 2021 was selected as a Young Ambassador for the the Shrine of Remembrance. Sofia is the fifth Sacred Heart student to be selected for this important leadership program and follows in the footsteps of Eleanor Naylor 11CLAWH and Erin Nisbet 11SIHC who have been ‘Young Ambassadors’ throughout 2019 and 2021. 

Sofia described the handover ceremony and being able to see behind the scenes at the Shrine as both a privilege and a chance to start to learn more about the building and the people / sacrifice it represents. Sofia beamed, “I felt connected and touched - it was unbelievable. Having experienced the induction day, I can’t wait to take on my role as a Young Ambassador for the Shrine”. (It was a nice touch that Eleanor was on hand for the handover ceremony and was able to welcome Sofia into the role).

Well done to Erin and Eleanor for their commitment and great work over the last two years. Having taught and coached Sofia, I know that she (like Elly and Erin) will also be a great asset and ambassador for both the Shrine and SHC.
