Congratulations to the students who competed in the GISSA Intermediate AFL Championships on Tuesday 30 May at Herne Hill Reserve. The tournament consisted of the following schools competing for the championship; Sacred Heart College, Kardinia, Iona College, Clonard College, Christian College Geelong and St. Ignatius College. With six schools participating the competition was played in two “Pools” for the preliminary matches, and a finals match for each team to determine the winning school and final team placings in 2023.
Sacred Heart College competed against Iona and St. Ignatius in their preliminary games with consecutive wins and good sportsmanship to earn their spot in the Semi-Final against Kardinia College. After a win SHC took on Clonard College in the Grand Final. A tough game for both schools meant some very strong competition and determination from all players.
Sacred Heart finished the day in 1st place, winning the Grand Final which means they will be going on to represent GISSA in the Herald Sun Shield Inter Girls Division 1 Competition next term.
Congratulations to the Year 9s and Year 10s who exhibited great team spirit and hard work across the day. Thank you to staff Richie McCann and Narelle Dickson for coaching.
