On Tuesday 15 October, some of our students were lucky enough to attend the final Be Bold Be Heard forum with other participating schools at GMHBA Stadium. Our students heard from inspiring guest speakers Justine Martin, Jen Robertson and Ali Waight. They were also able to share students’ actions and achievements throughout this year’s program.
Be Bold Be Heard has gone from strength to strength this year, with 120 participants in 2024. Through the program, teenage girls are invited to find their voice and imagine and enact change in their own class, college, and community, with the support of school staff.
Year 11 student Lucy Grapsas, one of the SHC leadership students who was lucky enough to attend the forum, gave the following reflection of the program:
Be Bold be Heard was an amazing opportunity where we attended 4 forums and we got to listen to many guest speakers and learn about leadership skills while doing fun activities and meeting new people. The skills we learnt helped guide us to work on our own initiative which we implemented at school; we then presented that initiative to the other schools at the final forum. I found so much inspiration from the guest speakers and found the overall experience so beneficial and fun.
